Leicester City vs Watford

21st August 2004, 3.00pm

Walkers Stadium

As we walked out of the New Den last week, I commented that the corresponding fixture last time in the football league, was away to Ipswich Town, and we lost 6-1, with a MISERABLE performance! This then prompted an unbeaten run of 11 games in all competitions. Is the same thing going to happen this year? I am still confident in the teams' ability to win the Championship, and I trust that Saturday's game will present some evidence to support that.

We were poor last week, and the same level of performance, will be unacceptable. The club's website suggests that it is likely to be another 30,000 plus crowd, who will be nervously awaiting a much improved effort.

Watford have shown inconsistency so far. Last Tuesday, they swept QPR aside magnificently, and then losing 1-0 at home to Burnley (that sounds familiar!!). If they produce the kind of football that demoralised QPR, then I suspect the game will be tight, and a Leicester win will not be a formality. However, I also suspect that this Saturday will produce a Leicester City backlash, and that this will be too much for Watford.
