"I am pleased for the fans and delighted for the players. It's been a long season with plenty of ups and downs so to come through all that and to secure promotion is absolutely amazing," he said after the 2-0 victory.

"It has been an emotional day and I am still emotional now. I have been lucky as a manager - I have enjoyed three days like this but this is for the players of Leicester City Football Club. They have stood by us through difficult times. Give all the credit to the players.

"I've got the easy job I just prepare all the players and send them out in the right frame of mind. They've actually got to go out onto that stage and do the business and they have done.

"It is all about players at the end of the day.

"An early goal settled us down. We weren't at our best - I'm not going to kid anyone and say that we were but we could have won the game comfortably.

"We've got to go after the title now - it's as simple as that. We want to enjoy today and tonight then regroup tomorrow for the trip to Sheffield on Monday.

"I thought Brighton were terrific. You saw what the Brighton fans were like and they are very dear to my heart. The Brighton players came out today and had a real go and it's sad that they are in the predicament they are in and I wish them the best of luck for their next three games."
