But the 23-year-old, who signed from Bury in 2008, says the appointment of Paulo Sousa as manager could revive his stop-start Foxes career.
"If he is going to give me a chance, I want to stay - for now that's the right decision," he told BBC Radio Leicester.
Adams made just one league start for Leicester last season and spent time on loan with Leyton Orient.
But the midfielder is now keen to impress his new manager, despite interest for his services from other clubs.
"There were a few clubs interested in me and I think there were a couple of bids accepted by the club," Adams said.
"But the old gaffer went and a new manager came in so I decided to stay and see what he had to say.
"My time here has been frustrating but hopefully I will get a chance under the new boss."
