A back four of Robbie Neilson, Wayne Brown, Michael Morrison and Ryan McGivern produced a shocking display yesterday, and, had Ipswich shown more attacking quality, we could have seen a repeat of that 5-1 humiliation at Forest.
Morrison deserved to maintain his place after recently forcing his way into the team, but to see Wayne Brown starting ahead of Jack Hobbs, who has been a rock for the majority of the season, was unbelievable and angered large sections of the Walkers Stadium crowd.
Robbie Neilson panicked in equal measure to the Foxes faithful every time he had the ball. And, more often than not the anxious groans from the stands were justified.
It has been confirmed today that Ryan McGivern will remain at the Walkers Stadium until the end of the season. But if Pearson thinks the Manchester City loanee is the answer to his defensive problems, we are in a serious spot of bother. McGivern was equally comical to his Scottish counterpart on the opposite side of the pitch. Bruno Berner is badly missed.
However, every cloud has a silver lining. And for City's collapsing defence, that may come in the form of Arsenal youngster Kerrea Gilbert. The fullback spent a successful loan spell at the Walkers during the League One winning campaign and has been tipped for a return.
