And, City boss Micky Adams confirmed that had Dickov not been suspended for two games he could well have made the squad for the game with Grimsby on Saturday.

Dickov begins a two games suspension after picking up his tenth yellow card of the season in the recent 2-1 victory over Preston.

“It is just nine days after the surgery and the fact of the matter is had he not have been suspended he would have been available for the game against Grimsby," Adams told the clubs official website.

“He will certainly be in the squad for the game against Rotherham, that’s for sure.

“But, as I would say to everyone in the squad, don’t take your place for granted."
