The City boss criticised his players for their lack of aggression after losing at home to Norwich six days ago. But a steadfast, belligerent performance at Glanford Park on Saturday halted a four-game winless run.
"If we play with the same spirit and concentration and aggression, we can make the play-offs. Can we keep that up for nine more games?" said Eriksson, whose side are five points off a top six spot.
"The whole backline and the whole team were very solid (at Scunthorpe), they were aggressive.
"The big difference was we were more aggressive than we were in the second half against Norwich. We handled the long balls extremely well and, on the set-plays, we we stood up to them.
"I really hope we can keep this spirit for the next nine games. That is the key but it depends very much on us."
