"What is delighting us most is the sheer volume of supporters taking an interest in the debate," said new chief operations officer Paul Mace.
"It is remarkable the number of fans who have bothered to vote in such a short space of time and demonstrates the passion in the local community for the club to be successful."
Fans will also have the chance to sowtheir choice on the name debate next weekend when cards with the two choices on them will be distributed at Saturday's home First Division game against Wimbledon.
At half time City's liaison officer Alan Birchenall will ask fans to hold up the card showing their preferred choice of name.
