Hoddle has been out of football since being sacked by Spurs in September last year.
Meanwhile, former Wolves and Walsall boss Colin Lee confirmed on Monday that he had applied for the job too.
"I would be interested in going back there as manager or a coach, I've got both strings to my bow.
"That would be a great opportunity for me, but if it doesn't work out then I'm keeping my options open."
