James Maddison Signs New Four-Year Deal With Leicester

James Maddison has committed his long-term future to Leicester City by putting pen to paper on a new four-year deal with the club.

The playmaker was an influential part of the Foxes side that exceeded expectations and challenged for a spot in the Champions League during the 2019/20 campaign - with his presence missed towards the end of the season as Leicester ultimately fell just short.

His performances had drawn admirers from elsewhere, but Leicester confirmed on their official club website that Maddison had signed a new contract to keep him at the club until 2024.

“I’m so happy to sign a new contract for this Football Club," the 24-year-old said. "It’s an incredibly exciting time to be a Leicester City player with so many positive things happening on and off the pitch and I’m delighted to be part of that.

"What we’ve achieved as a club this season is a huge step forward for us and I know there’s so much more to come from this team.

“I’ve enjoyed every moment since joining Leicester City. The supporters have been incredible to me and we’ve a fantastic set of players in that dressing room who are determined to show what we’re capable of doing together in both Europe and the Premier League next season.”

Having progressed through the Coventry youth system, Maddison joined the Foxes from Norwich in 2018 in a £20m deal.

He has gone on to make 67 Premier League appearances for the club, scoring 13 goals and chipping in with 10 assists.

Leicester and Maddison enjoyed a stunning start to the season, and his form was rewarded in November when he made his senior international debut.

Maddison finished the season with nine goals and three assists in all competitions, but missed the final six games of the campaign through injury as the Foxes finished fifth.
