The news comes days after rumours linking Paul Ince with the City managers role. However, in an official statement released earlier today, Mandaric states that he feels Worthington is the right man for the task of avoiding relegation into League One.
Rob Kelly replaced Craig Levein 14 months ago and was successful in steering the crisis stricken club away from the drop zone. However, a recent poor run of form, including a dismal 3-0 defeat to Plymouth Argyle has lead to Mandarics decision to take action.
It has been suggested that Worthington has been given the position until the end of the season when Mandaric will assess the clubs situation.
