LEICESTER 1 INTER MILAN 2

Teenage striker Chris O’Grady coolly tucked home a late penalty against Inter Milan at the Walkers Stadium last night.

O’Grady was on target from the spot with two minutes remaining in front of a crowd of 14,567, but the goal came too late to affect the outcome.

Leicester boss Craig Levein left new signing Peter Gilbert out of the side.

Gilbert completed a £200,000 switch from Plymouth before kick off, but Levein decided the Welsh under-21 international was too tired to feature in the game.

Gilbert has just returned from Plymouth’s tour of Sweden and is expected to play in the friendly at Rushden & Diamonds on Wednesday night with striker David Connolly also set to be added to the squad for the clash with the League Two side after shrugging off a niggling injury.

Inter Milan who left several of their big names at home for their four-game tour of England still had too much firepower for City.

City were industrious – closing the space effectively in midfield – and Danny Tiatto and Jason Wilcox both went close after neat approach play.

But two goals in the space of four minutes showed the Italians’ quality.

City keeper Paul Henderson was left exposed by breath-taking counter attacks which ended with stunning strikes from Santiago Solari and Choutos.

Mark De Vries spurned a good chance to halve the arrears just after the break when he pulled his shot wide and strike partner Dion Dublin was also off target when well placed.
