City were a goal to the good at half time after Lloyd Dyer's shot beat Chris Day in the Stevenage goal.
Day produced heroic ewarly in the 2nd half to keep the score down but efforts from Fryatt and King gave the home side a comfortable lead with 20 mins to go.
Stevenage came close late on but Steve Morison dragged his shot wide.
