The Match of the Day presenter took to the social networking site to reject claims that he has been warned by the BBC over comments made in the course of his former club's amazing 5-3 win.
Lineker followed that denial by posting: "Anyway enough of that! I'm done swearing until Leicester beat Manchester...f******...City."
Earlier, the BBC had issued a statement which read: " Gary's is a personal twitter account but we regularly remind him of his responsibilities around football based tweets."
Lineker had become increasingly excited as the Foxes fought back from 3-1 down to beat United 5-3 at the King Power Stadium on Sunday
One of his tweets read simply "F****** hell!", and was followed at the final whistle by: "Sh*t on Man United!"
When Lineker's language was highlighted in the media on Monday morning, he responded: "Dear papers, if I can't swear when Leicester come from 2 goals down to beat Man Utd 5-3 then I never can
Thanks though for your concern."
