Joe Royle, Paul Jewell and Jean Tigana among others were all linked with the vacancy but Holloway emerged as Mandarics favourite after Jewell ruled himself out of managing at Championship level.
Holloways first game in charge will be Saturdays trip to Bristol City where the Foxes will hope to improve on recent poor form that has left them at the wrong end of the Championship table.
