Leicester have urged Derby loan target Martyn Waghorn to remain at the Walkers Stadium.
The Rams are keen to sign the 21-year-old former Sunderland striker on a deal until the end of the season as they look to inject some pace into their attack.
Derby wanted Waghorn last week but have had to wait due to injuries to Foxes forwards Darius Vassell and Paul Gallagher.
Vassell returned in the victory over Millwall at the weekend and Gallagher is expected to be fit for the next game.
The Rams now hope to sign Waghorn ahead of their next fixture against Ipswich on Tuesday but Leicester are still keen to hold onto the player.
"We are well aware there are several clubs out there who possibly want to take Martyn Waghorn on loan but we are in no hurry to move him out," said Foxes assistant boss Derek Fazackerley.
"In fact, we want him to stay. We've got to look after ourselves and assess where we are in the next two or three days in regard to injuries.
"Then we will sit down and have a chat with Martyn and see what is the best for him and the football club. Players want to play regularly, but there are a lot of games between now and the end of the season and he is part of our plans."
