Prior to completing his move from Nice to the English champions at the weekend, Mendy's career had been solely spent in French football - including a spell working under current Leicester boss Claudio Ranieri at Monaco.
The 24-year-old midfielder believes there are marked differences between the two leagues but thinks he is capable of adapting.
He told the club's official website: " I'm excited to play in the Premier League because it's my first season in it
I came from France and today I'm at a Premier League club - it's my dream
"The Premier League is physically stronger and it's faster and in Ligue 1, it's more about tactics and technique, so it's very different
I like to always fight and I play for the team
I play with my head also
"I like the stadium also - it's big and it's different to stadiums in France - the supporters are close to the pitch."
Mendy moved to Leicester for an undisclosed fee, signing a four-year deal, and is the third new arrival this summer following the acquisitions of goalkeeper Ron-Robert Zieler and defender Luis Hernandez
