On Tuesday evening Nigel Pearson controversially left Leicester City only 2 months after leading them to a great escape and a miraculous 14th place come the end of the season
Although it may seem harsh to some his tenure at The King Power Stadium has certainly been a memorable one sometimes for the wrong reasons
I thought I would take a look back at some at some unforgettable moments he has had during the season.
Incident with fan
On the 2nd of December Leicester played Liverpool a match they lost 3-1 and this left them in serious trouble in the relegation battle
During the game Pearson seemed to lose his cool with a fan who voiced his discontent at Pearson’s management this lead to a exchange of words and the Ex- Foxes boss seemed to tell the fan to ‘F*** Off and die’
This was caught by the TV cameras and the 51 year old was fined £10,000 for the altercation.
James McArthur ‘strangle’
In the midst of what looked like imminent relegation Pearson was lost his cool again this time taking it out on a player not a fan
During a game with Crystal Palace in February the former Hull City boss appeared to move his hands towards midfielder James McArthurÂ’s neck and then after the incident he then would not let go of the Scotsman during the bizarre touchline spat.
‘The Sacking’
The day after this there was huge rumours circulating that Pearson had left the Foxes and it is said he was even told he had been fired by the club
It is reported that the chairman Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha had told the Englishman he had been relieved of his duties then only by the persuasion of the chairmanÂ’s son he was reinstated in an unbelievable U-Turn in the clubs plans
‘Ostrich' Rant
Another unusual episode in Pearson’s stay happened in a press conference on the 29th April when he continued his ongoing spat with the press calling a journalist an ‘ostrich’ and asking ‘Is your head in the sand?’ He found himself again in the middle of another controversial row which left the Leicester fans asking if he was the right man for the job.
Players involved in sex tape
Just as he thought it had all ended and he was being branded as the leader of the great escape another troublesome matter would involve Pearson again
3 Foxes players Tom Hopper, Adam Smith and his own son James Pearson who was on the books at Leicester were involved in a video which showed them taking part in a sex tape and using racist language also during the post season tour
This plunged Dad Nigel into an awkward situation and all 3 players were sacked even though it seemed the boss might have wanted them to stay
This final incident was said to be the final straw in the relationship between Pearson and the board.
So was it the right decision to sack him after all these events or should they of given him the benefit of the doubt of after leading his side to a remarkable escape?
