Sporting Foxes Rewarded

Tonight's Carling Cup second round clash with local rivals Nottingham Forest began with an incredible goal scored by Forest 'keeper Smith. The Goalkeeper was allowed to stroll through the City defence and roll the ball past Fulop to put the home team ahead much to the disbelief of both sets of fans.

It was then revealed that both teams had agreed before kick-off to allow Forest to regain their lead after the fixture between the two teams was abandoned two weeks ago due to Leicester's Clive Clarke collapsing at half time, Forest were leading the tie 1-0.

The Foxe's generosity and admirable sportmanship looked questionable if not foolish three minutes from time when Forest appeared to be cruising into the third round to face Aston Villa. Alan Sheehan had earlier equalised for the Foxes with a stunning free kick. However a superb solo effort from Nottingham's Tyson gave the home side the advantage.

After taking the lead, Forest attempted to close out the match with endless time wasting tactics much to the frustration of the City camp. However, the Foxes kept their cool and showed their quality at the death with two well taken goals from Richard Stearman and skipper Stephen Clemence.

The Foxes can now look forward to a well deserved third round Carling Cup tie with Aston Villa on Wednesday 26th September.
