Since his arrival at the Walkers Stadium, Eriksson has chosen to adopt a similar starting line-up to that used by predecessor Paolo Sousa, but he insists more players will get their chance to prove what they can do - and that starts tonight.
Eriksson's hand has been forced and he will have to make at least five changes to Saturday's starting 11 that lost away at Swansea.
Loanees Curtis Davies, Kyle Naughton and Greg Cunningham who are all cup tied. Martyn Waghorn is also inelegible to play after representing Sunderland earlier in the competition. Meanwhile skipper Matt Oakley is set to miss the next two weeks with a thigh strain.
Whilst the prospect of losing five key players for tonights clash may seem daunting, Eriksson is relishing the chance to see more of his inherited squad in action. He said: 'Yes, there is competition and although I have seen the players in training, it is not the same as seeing them in match conditions, so it will be good to see more of them.'
West Brom lie in sixth place in the Premier League after an incredible start to the season which has seen them continue their impressive form of last season and Eriksson knows his team will have to put in a huge performance to progress in a competition that holds many fine memories for the Foxes faithful.
The Foxes boss is eager for his team to get the right result tonight: 'I know the club's history in the competiton and of course we will be taking it very seriously. This is a very important competition for us and we will be trying our best to get to the next round.'
