Like a Christmas present that was much sought after but quickly discarded, Real Madrid are open to loaning out Luka Jovic this summer.
The 22-year-old Serbian striker was signed last summer from Eintracht Frankfurt, after scoring 17 goals in the 2018-19 Bundesliga season. Alongside this, Jovic notched a further ten as Eintracht reached the Europa League semi-finals.
However, Jovic has found life more difficult in the Spanish capital. During an injury riddled season, the forward managed 17 appearances and only two goals for Real Madrid. With factoring in the performances of the evergreen Karim Benzema, it is no surprise the Spanish giants are looking to offload the Serb.
Despite his toils in Spain, Luka Jovic remains a striker of huge promise. In this article, we list some of the clubs that should be looking to secure his services.
1. AC Milan
The Italian aristocrats have endured a decade to forget. With a decline to put the struggles of Manchester United and Arsenal into perspective, Milan have not played Champions League football since the 2013/14 season and haven't looked remotely capable of winning the league for even longer.
But, Milan have qualified for this year's Europa League and are looking to reinforce a squad that finished sixth in Serie A last month.
With Zlatan Ibrahimović still going strong, Milan are in the market for a younger striker to compliment the enigmatic Swede. Considering his Europa League exploits with Eintracht two seasons ago, Jovic would appear to be the ideal candidate.
Talks have apparently been ongoing between Milan and Real Madrid since the Italian side's loaning of Brahim Diaz. With grand designs at both home and abroad, Milan look to be in prime position to secure Jovic's services.
2. Hertha Berlin
Jovic has been linked with a host of Bundesliga clubs, perhaps with the thinking that a diet of bratwurst and sauerkraut will reignite the forward's form.
The most prominent of these links have been to Hertha Berlin. The capital-dwelling club are desperate to propel themselves up the Bundesliga table after a 10th place finish last season.
If Jovic could replicate his Eintracht form, then Hertha would be making an excellent signing.
3. Leicester City
Jamie Vardy simply cannot go on forever. While the Sheffield-born star seems fully committed to his life of goals and wind-ups, time does not stand still for anybody.
Therefore, it would make sense if Leicester were in the market for striking alternatives. Manager Brendan Rodgers saw his team fall away from seemingly certain Champions League qualification last year and will be looking to bulk out a thin squad that will be contending with Europa League football this season.
Jovic has the talent to thrive in the Premier League and would fit Leicester's club ethos of signing young players full of potential. A transfer that would make sense for all parties.
4. Tottenham Hotspur
Seemingly unaware that they are no longer being filmed for an Amazon documentary, Tottenham have reacted to last week's defeat to Everton by embarking on a transfer splurge.
The imminent signings of Gareth Bale and Sergio Reguilon have revived hopes among the Spurs supporters that they can escape the shackles of Jose Mourinho's management. However, Spurs remain vulnerable to any injury to Harry Kane.
Therefore, a move for Jovic would make perfect sense. While few top strikers would move to become back-up at another club, Tottenham have an incredibly congested fixture list that will require intelligent squad rotation. Put simply, Jovic would play.
The Serb could reignite his career in north London.
