The Foxes currently sit in 11th place, six points off the play-offs, and are on an upward curve under boss Sven-Goran Eriksson having struggled at the start of the campaign.
Nigerian international Yakubu, 28, who has scored in both his Foxes appearances so far since joining from Everton on January 13, says he is enjoying his time at the Walkers Stadium.
He told the club's official website: "Things are working out well, I want to stay here and get promotion. I still believe we can get into the play-offs.
"The way we are playing, being patient, and not being in such a hurry to kick a long ball up field is pleasing. The manager has said go out and enjoy your football and don't think of the pressure. We have to go out to win every game and want all three points. I am really enjoying it."
On fellow recent arrival Sol Bamba, who has netted three goals in four games, Yakubu added: "He is a good player and a very good character in the dressing room. He can defend well and he is helping the team even more with scoring a few goals."
