Birmingham City at least finished the game with 11 players and that must be a promising sign for manager Steve Bruce as he kept his side in sight of the Championship title.
But Birmingham can only blame themselves for allowing Leicester off the hook when the Foxes' substitute striker Elvis Hammond grabbed an 86th-minute equaliser.
Birmingham, who have had four players sent off already this season, have struggled to fire on all cylinders.
The outcome was hardly a surprise despite facing a Leicester side with the worst goalscoring record in the division but it took a 58th-minute goal from Gary McSheffrey to enable Birmingham to maintain their unbeaten home record.
Leicester, brilliantly served by their new goalkeeper Conrad Logan, refused to succumb to a Birmingham side hit by injuries and suspensions and deserved their point with a plucky, well-organised display.
Birmingham included their three on-loan players from Arsenal, Nicklas Bendtner, Seb Larsson and Fabrice Muamba, and were rewarded by three top-class performances from the youngsters.
All three were extremely busy and should have inspired a win over a Leicester side that is struggling up front despite strong defensive displays from the likes of Logan, Gareth McAuley and Patrick McCarthy.
Leicester were certainly indebted to their 20-year-old goalkeeper, Logan. Making only his second league appearance, the youngster from Sligo made two brilliant first-half saves from Bendtner and Gary McSheffrey.
The first was turning backwards to keep out the young Dane's header and then he dived to his left to push away McSheffrey's free-kick after he had been booked outside the area for bringing down Dudley Campbell.
They were the highlights of a frustrating first half for Birmingham who often ran up against a brick-wall as Leicester often played four or five players behind the ball.
A minute into the second half Darren Kenton came to Leicester's rescue with a timely interception to keep out Bendtner's close-range effort.
Logan again distinguished himself with a flying save to his left to push away a swirling long-range drive from McSheffrey.
But this great attempt appeared to inspire the impish former Coventry player and in the 58th minute he collected a pass from Campbell and slipped the ball over the head of the advancing Logan.
Leicester salvaged their point when the ever-improving Josh Low crossed from the right and Hammond was on hand to hammer the ball sweetly into the net.
