Leicester manager Micky Adams failed to get one over the team he supported as a boy as the Foxes found themselves blunted by the Blades.
Adams, a self confessed Sheffield United fan, saw his side record their first home draw of the season despite dominating the second half.
Both teams hit the woodwork in a hard fought game. United forward Steve Kabba crashed a first half shot against the crossbar, and then James Scowcroft saw a 60th minute header pushed against the post by Blades keeper Paddy Kenny.
Adams admitted he was frustrated with City's first half performance saying: "The first half was as bad as the second half was good, but when you look at the results a point is good.
"The fans at the Walkers Stadium have had their money's worth this year and I imagine they will be pleased with the second half.
"We dominated and but for some good goalkeeping and bad finishing we would have won the game. We missed Brian Deane." Leicester had to wait until the 43rd minute for their first real chance when forward Paul Dickov saw his right-foot shot saved by Kenny's legs, but they piled on the pressure after the break with Nicky Summerbee heading into the side netting.
Northern Ireland International Gerry Taggart then shot narrowly wide of Kenny's left-hand post before the United keeper kept out Scowcroft.
Muzzy Izzet saw a goal bound header cleared off the line by veteran midfielder Stuart McCall and Dickov again saw a late chance saved by Kenny.
Blades boss Neil Warnock admitted it had been a tough game saying: "We tried to attack but in the second half could not get out of our own half, I thought Kabba's strike was going in and it was a fabulous save from Paddy which kept us in it.
"With the number of good former Premier League players Leicester will be very difficult to keep down."
